Help With Incidents - London
Colney Neighbourhood Watch
If you observe suspicious activity
but feel in does not warrant police action, take a note of the time, nature
of incident and any descriptions. You should pass these notes to your
Street Co-ordinator. Itmay be stored on OWL
for future reference.
You may not wish to use OWL,
feel free to click the red button and download
an incident report form to print off.
You may feel that the police should be involved.
There are several ways that crimes can be reported depending on the urgency
and type of crime being reported.
ONLY USE 999
IF
There is risk of injury
There is risk of serious damage to property
You suspect a crime is in progress
It is a serious incident which needs immediate police attendance
If you call 999 other than in an emergency, you may prevent another caller
with a real emergency from receiving urgent police assistance.
For all Hertfordshire non emergency calls dial
0845 33 00 222. Cick here for other
specific police numbers
The operator who answers will ask you for details about the nature of
your call and pass you on to the relevant department and person. ALWAYS
TELL THE OPERATOR THAT YOU ARE NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH. Have your notes
at hand, ( you can download an incident
report form here) you will need to pass them on over the phone. Thcontrol
operator will take your details, record what happened and allocate a crime
reference number/log number.
Always keep a note of this log number, as it will help with any queries
you may have later and you may need it for insurance claims. Pass this
information to your Street Co-ordinator in order that we can follow up
any action taken.
